After reading a thread on here in the 2nd gen forums I contacted Brian Cowan to inquire on upgraded cams for shits and giggles. Well, one of their guys is willing to work with me if I send him the cams and will re-grind them for $300. New cams from Mazda can be had for $270 plus shipping/tax. So for about $600, upgraded cams can be had for our boost-hungry 14-17 6's.

Thoughts? Insults? People who want to join the journey?

Boost? 14-17? They dont have turbos and messing with the cams in a SkyActiv is asking for trouble. Seriously, dont do it.

You are correct, the 2014-17 don't have boost unfortunately. But different cams could be made to change valve timing and lower compression, leading to better boost capabilities.

I wasn't certain on diving into this, but figured I'd think.out loud on here and get some feedback. I didn't listen to you once and came to regret it, so maybe this time..

Which leads me to another question I've been meaning to ask you but I'll shoot you a PM

Heres the problem. The ECU knows what values the cams have and continuously adjust them to control timing and compression (yes, its a thing), so no you just cannot swap in another set and have anything but bad things happen.
