I haven't posted on here in forever and MarineMazda said i should share. Seeing as this is a small group i am confidant that some of you already know about this.
Well my MS6 died so i thought i would share the repairing of a timing chain on a VVT
first i cleaned the engine bay
Then i started to take it apart.
Is that oil in the intercooler.... Ah stupid PCV valve...
that carbon is from the freash air inlet to the crankcase... shouldn't the air be going in not out?...
That stretched chain is kind of amazing, you would never think that metal could warp and stretch like that. Thanks for the pics and good luck with the re-build.
Great step by step and what you have done. Im getting my VVT replaced today, hopefully my chain and valve cover are still in good shape. However I did drive my car for awhile with a broken VVT (dumb move).
I have to start going through my motor the same way this weekend. Making a pretty nasty knocking noise. Im afraid its a bent rod, or spun bearing, or worse. (Is there worse?)
Anyways, nice pics, and thank you! Gives me an idea of what to look for while im rooting around in there!
Well i have ordered CP pistons and K1 rods. I hope to get the block to the machine shop next week. Well i was odering stuff i got the CP-e injector seals as well.
As title says is it possible to take the girdle that holds the crankshaft with the gearbox still attached? I know the crank can't be taken out, but I would at least like to check half of the bearings, those than sit in the girdle.
Thank you in advance.
Edit: I want to add that I took all 10...
