Not sure how much weight this carries, but the pics look legitimate enough. A tech website has published photos of an upcoming instrument binnacle for the next-gen Mazda 3. The new cluster shows off a fully digital display that looks to have at least 2 different modes as far as information shown. The first mode shows a central digitized speedo and digital needle tach, with a fuel range display, temp gauge gear selector indicator on the peripheral. A second mode shows the tach and speedo split into 2 half circles. The center is rumored to be a DIS that might show warnings, nav status or other info.

Check it out here.

Looks pretty cool.

I recently saw Audi's "Virtual Cockput", and I can understand why journalists think it's the best in the business. The display is nothing short of astonishing, and the amount of different information that can be displayed is almost overwhelming.

I'm not expecting an automaker like Mazda to have a "premium" system like theirs, but I'm interested to see the final product.

All LCD displays are in our very near future, they're already here on the premium brands, expect it to dribble down soon.

These LCD displays are in the news because of the recurring glitches BMW and Audi are having with their systems, where the whole display just blacks out.
