Air conditioning temperature

Recently purchased a Mazda 6 2.5 I-4 in Qatar. The temperatures have started to drop. Just some days back I noticed that if the air con temp is set more than the ambient temperature.... the a/c is giving warm air. For eg.... if ambient temp is 20deg Celsius and I set the car temp to 22 deg Celsius.... The a/c is producing warm air. Checked this condition by turning on and off the recirculation . It was the same effect. Is it abnormal or is it something new .
