I purchased a 2007 Mazda 6. Sometimes the air bag light comes on the dash and stays on. Other times it does not stay on. Can someone tell me if they have had this problem and what it was.
I have the same problem. My car was still under warranty...was going to bring it in and that week ended up getting rear ended. Not much damage, but then the light stopped coming on. Now, warranty is up and 4 months later it now comes on again. I might try disconnect the batter cable to perhaps reset the cpu and see if the problem still happens. Might need to just take it in though.
update, I got my air bag light to turn off just by pushing in all of the cables underneath the driver and passenger seats. It no longer comes on. Perhaps this will fix yours also, good luck!
If you look under your driver seat and passanger seat there are several cables (more if you have side air bags). I just pushed on them all to make sure they were securely in place. I would sugest to just jiggle them and then push them in tight. I did not find any that were unplugged but after I pushed on the cables the light no longer comes on. I may have just got lucky but it solved my problems. Hope that helps!
I purchased a used 2007 mazda6 and the airbag light was already on. I didn't want to mess with it until inspection time. I also didn't want to go to the dealer unless I had to. What I did was exactly what you guys wrote in this thread--checked under both seats for loose connections, it all looked connected and fine but I jiggled all the wires near all wire harness and pushed in all the connections (even though they were already connected).
I did this with great skepticism but had nothing to lose. To my amazement it worked! the airbag light is no longer on. I only drove the car for few minutes around the neighborhood but it seems this fixed the problem. Time will tell.
I have a 2007 6 and have had this airbag light off and on for 3 years now. Car is at the dealer right now for a failed passenger-side side airbag and something else. My wife had been taking her car into the dealer when the light would come on and they would spray out some connectors or reseat these connectors and the light would go out for a little bit. I am very skeptical that this is the only reason the system light comes on. My dealer is saying that the side airbag failed internally twice now.
While the car was under warranty, the first dealer just pushed the pins/plugs back in called it good, never replaced any components in 2 years 4 trips in for airbag light. Now car is out of warranty and all of a sudden it had a failed airbag that I had to fight to get them to replace under warranty due to the system history. Now I'm back again fighting to get this system diagnosed as the light came back on a few days ago.
They pulled codes off the ecm b1999 and b1998. anyone know what these are?
Sorry for the rant, just very frustrated with the process.
Hey my name is johnny I also have a 2007 Mazda 6..and the airbag light would randomly come on and off when u start you car the airbag light will go through a series of flashes before staying lit mine flashed 2 times then a pause and then 3 times this means code 23 which is the passenger airbag which usually means that there is a bad connection under the passenger seat what you need to do is look under the passenger seat and look for the yellow plug and disconnect it and plug it back in when I did this I fixed the problem and now its been several months and still have not seen the light come on what happens is the wires seem to get tugged on and make a bad connection try this if u have code 23 and I guarentee the problem will go away ttyl....Johnny__
Just bought mazda 6 sport,2014. Had it for 4 days, had sunroof installed, picked up car and pax seat airbag sensor light on dash. Took to dealer and they said code indicates a crushed sensor code. Not covered by warranty. Reputable sunroof company said they did nothing to seat. Dealer says someone stood on seat to crush it. Code indicates a crash and obviously my car is intact. Anyone else have trouble with mazda not honoring warranty on this issue?
I had no warning lights on my mazda until i took it to my mazda dealer for air bag recall. When i got it back the air bag light was flashing. I called the dealer and they denied any responsibility for the problem. I bought the car new from them so I made sure to tell anyone I can they are not someone to do business with because they are shady. I dont understand how they think this practice benefits them long term
I have a 2010 Mazda 6 that was throwing a code 23. Discounted and re-connect the yellow plug under the pass. seat and the code is gone. Thanks guys of your posts!!!
My airbag light issue started the day I got the car back from the dealer having done the airbag recall. Dealer claims error code for side airbag is unrelated to the recall work but it's way too much of a coincidence and wanted to charge me for repairs. You can bet the first thing I do when I get home is check the connections and see if the problem goes away. Anybody else have this experience?
applied the pressure to the plug under the driver's seat and the code 22 went away. Now I look forward to telling the dealer that folks on line clearly know more about these problems than the so-called "factory-trained" technicians! unreal!
It's 2021. Had to remove the dashboard to change the AC Evaporator. Got back the car with airbag light flashing and staying on. Thought the front passenger airbag might be the issue as that had to be remover as part of the job. Saw this post and decided to try the jacks under the seat. That solved the problem. Probably in sending the seat back the gain access to the dashboard the seat slapped back too hard and the jack got loose.
Thanks for posting this guys.
