AEM filter is bent need opinions?

I just bought a used AEM intake for my 6i on Mazda6club.com and the the filter is slightly bent at the bottom can I still use it? I tried to straighten it, but I didn't want to tear it up trying. Here's a pic. And also, I bought K&N filter cleaner kit for it and used the cleaner, but I'm not sure if it's ok to oil it too. I'm not really sure if I should have used the cleaner, but it's too late now.

Please let me know. I would like to put it on today or tomorrow.

Thanks alot,

Will

You think I should go ahead and use the K&N oil cleaner on it?

Thanks,

Will
ive used ones alot more messed up without issues. as long as there no noticeable holes in it, your fine.
Im pretty sure the AEM is a non oiled filter depending on how old it is, because I have it the mazdaspeed one, which is dryflow. I could be wrong, but thats how it is for mine. Although at second glance...yours does look different from mine, so you are probably in the clear to oil it with the K&N, but dont quote me on that lol :D.

Depends on the year. IIRC Mazdaspeed and the current AEM Brute Force intakes come with Dry Flow filters like you have. Earlier AEM intakes came with oiled gauze filters.
if it's the red filter, which it looks like, just oil that thing up, let it sit a bit, then put it on. i have done quite a few AEM filters in the last couple years.
Is there a way to find out the year of it to see what kind it might be?

Thanks,

Will

Just by looking at it, you have a gauze filter. Dryflows don't have the mesh and the filter media is a gray material.

Thanks, I'll go ahead and oil it.
