I haven't used the M6 Activematic (similar to tiptronic?) types of transmission before. Can anyone share some views on techniques of using the Activematic stick to obtain:

1) the best performace
2) the best fuel economy

Thanks in advance.

most "manumatic" or what ever you want to call it transmissions are going to give you themost economy and performance in automatic mode. This is true from BMW to Acura. I have never driven or read of a car with such a system that you can improve the performance by shifting manually. Since the car has a torque converter, it will still be slower than a true manual with a clutch. Most car computers are set to recognize when you floor it to give you the best possible acceleration through your automatic transmission. If anyone is aware of a manumatic car that is different, please let me know. The only exception would be BMW SMG tranny, but that i s a true manual tranny where the computer controls the clutch.
