Started working on this tonight.

Automotive exhaust Automotive exterior Exhaust system Nickel Bumper

Backstory. It’s a pre facelift Corksport exhaust. The guy sold his mazda 6 and gave it to his friend who had a Fiat. The exhaust shop welded a new mid section on. Then it was sold to a guy that had a facelift mazda 6 and the exhaust cut outs are about 2” wider, so the exhaust shop widen it. It wasn’t loud enough for him so he had the exhaust shop make him a custom axle back. So I bought this for $50. The mufflers are worth that much.

So the exhaust shop welded the flange on upside down and I need to undo the extension.

This is where I am now:

So in the morning, I will get it on the car, tac the exhaust pieces in place and start finish welding.

I’ve never welded before . Wish me luck.

Finished it yesterday and it sounds good. Not to loud but not stock either. A good compromise of sound.

Can’t reuse my old quad tips, they are too long. So now I’m the hunt for some more shorter overall quad tips or some oval / rectangular tips that are wide enough to fill the opening.

Whelp, serpentine belt broke on my way home. A chunk got caught behind the crank pulley and started to pull out the crank seal.

I had a 1.5” socket and gently massaged the seal back in place. New serpentine belt and back on the road. I don’t know why it broke. I changed both belts and the tensioner about 70,000 miles ago. All gates brand.

Got a oem crank deal and a seal puller and I’ll be replacing it this weekend. It’s still leaking a tad bit of oil and when I drive hard it’s leaking enough to where I come to a stop and I can see smoke from
the hood.

Got my new tips welded on. I’m on the fence about how far they stick out, but oh well.

And got my new grill from @MadStyle today. I need to decide if I’m using my current half busted bumper, of it I’m going to order a new fresh painted one . I’m thinking about ordering some carbon mirror caps and the carbonish rear window vents as accent pieces.

I think you should jump on the side of the fence that says..."sticks out too far". I actually also prefer the less cluttered look of the single pipe per side, but with perhaps an oval shape. Of course this is your project, but just throwing my 2 cents in there.

While I'm throwing 2 cents around...

These rims...from the very moment I saw them on your car, I pretty much can see them doing justice to almst every car! And I'm a guy who loves spoke...lots of thin spokes. Showing more metal just looks appealing to me these days.

Nice, looking good. Glad you got it fairly quick, finding a shipper that was affordable was a nightmare, lol. Pirateship came to the rescue.
UPS took it easy on a package for once, lol. Im glad that I have it safe and sound!

Oval like so?

The only issue was finding quad tips that were short enough. My old ones were 13” long and I needed 6-7” or so with the CS exhaust and these were 9.5 and a shaved 1” off. But with the wide cutout of the diffuser, a single tip wouldn’t occupy the spacer properly since it was made for dual tips. I don’t love the new tips, but they fit the bill as good as they could.

And I loved my Trafficstar DTX’s. I just wish they were 19’s 🥲 instead of 20’s. They were such a clean and classy wheel. And easy to clean,

That's a clean look...no doubt.

I suppose finding an oval tip that was wide enough to fill the opening like below would be kinda hard, but...

I was driving behind a Genesis G70 a few days ago and noted that the "tips" on that car are oval and are MASSIVE and would probably fit very well. The problem is that they aren't tips. They are just decorative garnishes around opening in the bumper. I've been looking around eBay and I think the look that comes the closest to this would be the Audi RS style. But heck...I didn't realize that exhaust tips were so expensive!

What else do you have planned for the car, though?
Idk. I have this iPad dash kit that I’ve been meaning to install for like 2 years that I may get around too eventually. I want to do the headliner and pillars black, but I probably won’t. And I have the CF grill slats I just acquired that I want to install along with some other CF bits, albeit fake, for accents.

Other than that, that’s about it. Just keep it running. She’s at 213,000 and i want her to see 350k.

And for the exhaust tips, I was looking at the ones on my wife’s 2016 Kia Optima once I saw your example and those prob would have fit pretty good. Prob be hard to come by them I would think.
