I love the G35 Coupe...but think the 6 is better looking the than the G35 Sedan. I got a ride in a dark blue over light tan '05 G35X (the AWD version) last week...I was very impressed....impressed enough to pay over $10K more than what I paid & to lose the functionality of the Hatch? Hell no.

i have driven both. Quite a few times i have driven the g35. One of my coworkers has it and we trade cars to go on our dinner breaks every now and then.

My impressions of the infinity are that its much faster....BUT harder to drive. I found the transmission in the g35 a little awkword and hard to get used to. Definately different than the stick shift in the 6. Driving the g35 you can feel the engine rumbling through your hand on the shifter, not sure if i like that or not. Gear engagement is much quicker in the g35 as well. Wouldn't mind havin a 6spd tranny in my 6 either!

overall i like my 6 and i wouldn't trade for the g35. The looks of the 6 are FAR superior to that of the infinity coupe and sedan version. I don't really like the look of the G.

He's got a set of 20in TSW Thruxton wheels on there and is planning to throw a turbo kit on there soon as well. That will DEF be an interesting drive! i'll keep you guys posted if he gets around to that turbo this summer or not.

If price was not an issue i would have a G35 coupe, baby seats be damned. It is by far my favorite car on the road right now. I would even take a G35x sedan, if it came with a manual. But i am not willing to cross the $30k barrier at this point in my life.

For sure I wouldn't get the black or red, aside from that i can't think of what other colors in comes in.

Those are my favorite colors on that car. I'd probably go for black. It's classic, steathly, and looks fantastic with a set of silver wheels.

If I could afford it, I'd make my 6 the daily driver and the G35 my play car. Unlikely to get that by my girlfriend though. This thread is giving me buyer's remorse...

If price was not an issue (within reason), I am sure most of us would not have chosen the 6. I think the 6 is a great car and I love it, but I would be driving a beemer if I could afford it.

I like the G35, but personally I would take a 330ci over the Nissan. I think it has more class and is overall more appealling. But I am a BMW at heart, just cannot afford one yet.

When i got my 6 it was a toss up between my 6 and an 02 TL 3.2S, i went with the 6 cause the side of the TL was messed up something wrong with the black paint, i was kicking myself when i saw another 02, with less miles than the previous one, in silver, but i had already picked up my 6. If i had to choose between the 6 and the G35, i would go with the G35, its such an amazing looking, sounding car, i wish i had the cash for one

Heh...make sure your friend knows about the massive issues with the G35/Z's and turbo's.

Its absolutely hilarous to walk into a shop that does Turbo installs on Z's and G35's. On one half of the shop you see all the turbo kits being installed. On the other half of the shop you see all the motors from the previous installed turbo kits being pulled for a complete rebuild/refit as the rods are completely blown to pieces.

Those engines can't take boost whatsoever...the shops absolutely love it, its the #1 money maker right now. People buy turbo kits, (4-7k + labor), then they blow their motors a few months later, and bam 10k for the built up bottom end (forged everything, trimetal bearings), and labor for the engine work and refit.

Altered atmosphere is making so much damn money because of this, its rediculous. If you want to turbo a Z or G35...pull the motor and build it up first, you'll save about 6k.

One thing I really like about the G35 is the sound  , what can be done to our 6's to make it sound more like that. I'm not saying an exact match, but just something to make the 6 engine sound more........... like a 'growl' AND NOT :nono: making it sound like a 'rice-mobile.'

That g35 growl is awesome. One of the best around.

The 6 does need to be more aggressive.

I wonder how the manual shifts. I sat in a 350z and the clutch is heavy and the shifter felt notchy. I think its the same setup as the Z.

Irrespective of the G35's performance, I think it's ugly. I hate the boxy rear. I think the Nissan 350Z looks better. Of course, if price wasn't an issue, the Porsche GT2 would be my pick. But for its price, THE 6 IS WONDERFUL! I love you, my lil' pumpkin!

I would get the G35 in a heartbeat over the 6 and it will probably be my next car. Most of the cons and pros have been pointed out already, but I like the power (exhaust sounds incredible), styling, and handling. Some cons are rear wheel drive which is only available in the coupe and am hoping they will come out with all wheel drive for the coupe eventually, yes I am aware of the skyline coming out in 2007+ with the G35 body, but I think that will be pricey.

I love my 6, but I definitely would of gotten the G35 coupe if i had the money. I think the G35 sedan looks boring and plain compared to the 6 but I absolutely love the coupe. I would want it in black, with the spoiler it looks so awsome!!!

Ya the G35/Z takes well to NA bolt ons, but if you want to go all the way, you gotta build up the car.

Now the 25 yr anniversy edition (or what not) has a compeltely different set of rods and bearings. I wonder if the updated power G35 has similar internals, or if its only the Z. Tell him to hit up the forums, there are tons!

http://www.my350z.com/forum/index.php?

Is a good forum to start out at. You'll note the FI section is full of engine buildup info...as its almost required.

As for matching the G35's growl...exhaust note is a factor of...

1) Head design
2) Cam's
3) Engine displacement
4) Header design
5) Location of cats, resonators, mufflers
6) Size and design of exhaust system.

So matching an exhaust note with another car is pretty difficult. Even if you transplanted the exhaust completely, it still wouldn't sound the same.

Funny this question should come up, the G35 coupe is the ONLY other car I truly like at the moment, and I'm actually thinking about going to look at some this weekend. I'm with everyone else though, the front is aweful, the tailights are barely better, and they are a dime a dozen.

The only thing I like is the interior and the engine, but I'm having a hard time convincing myself that an interior and engine is worth taking a $18K hit on my 6.

Not to mention that for $18K I could prob have a 400HP 6. My 6 is great, I've almost gotten it the way I want it, and its handling far surpasses its price.

My solution, have both cars!

I have both, owned an Ivory Pearl G35x for just about a year now and picked up a brand new Squall Blue 5 speed 6 wagon TODAY! I don't think they can be compared, they have totally different personalities. The G has all that torque at the low end. So far, the 6 feels like it can't even make it up a hill. I'll get used to it I'm sure.

Besides, the G35 is a gas HOG that requires premium to boot. My wife will be driving it from here on. Hopefully I'll get to drive it occasionally! Like to put gas in it haha.

I've said it before and I'll keep saying it again.... :nono: the G35 is not meant to be a four door, it just doesn't look good at all, though i'm sure the four door feature is more convinient, plus G35X has AWD which the coupe is yet to have. What's your mpg on the g35? The 6 is a bit of a gas hog as well, and i'm sure my heavy foot doesn't help! Nonetheless you do have both.....you bastard! :nana: ........and I don't :tear:

NO contest. I was actually looking for a 03 G35 sedan before I purchased my 6. The only reason I'm not driving one right now is because I could not find one with decent miles at a decent price. Plus the 03 sedans only come in automatic..yuk. I still want one, but money is a factor as I'm assuming it was for the most of us. If it wasn't I'd be in line for the new M5. My 6 had 18 miles and a warranty for many more miles, while many of the other cars I was considering had maybe 10k or less to their warranties...Important factor to me.
