222/45 vs. 225/50

It's time for tires and I'm thinking of going for either 225/45 or 225/50's in a Sumitomo HRZ3. I"m keeping the stock 17" rims for now.

I just want some feedback on if either size gives any noticable cornering or braking advantage over the stock 215 size while on the stock rim.

Thanks,

Hunter

Well, the 225/50s are a slight bit closer in size to the OEM size, and since it's taller, it'll fill out the wheel gaps more than the 45s, as well as offer a smoother ride.

As for handling, IMO it's more the type of tire (brand, performance category, load and speed rating) that makes a difference compared to the size.
