Has anyone ever heard of mazda changing the final drive ratio on the models with the gt tech package? I'm looking for a replacement for my 2016 gt (non tech pack) that was totalled. I swear I've read in one of the brochures that the gt tech pack changes the final drive from the standard 3.81 to something taller but I cannot seem to find this information again. Has anyone else seen or heard this information before?

Just search 2016 Mazda 6 brochure PDF on Google.
The information is still there

To follow up, I just drove a 17 gt with the tech package. Upshifts from 2nd to 3rd at 64, which I believe was the same as my 16 gt non-tech pack (can any 6 owners with the auto confirm?). I'm pretty surprised with how different the car feels. Steering is heavier and the car feels heavier overall. Turn in was slightly better though and it felt more planted. These differences may be due to the extra weight, lane keep Assist motors, and the new g vectoring system.

Checked the brochures but the NA brochures don't mention anything about final drive differences by package. I believe they're all the same here in NA

It's the G-Vectoring I drove both a 17' and Without the premium package and the steering felt heavy in both compared the my 16'. It was also a safety update, the steering wheel electronically stiffens with throttle input.

Interesting. I cannot decide if I like it or not. The car feels more planted and has better turn in, but it also feels like there's a layer of trickery between you and the car. I wasnt really able to test it out how I normally would with the salesperson in the car.

If you plan on taking the car to a circuit it's worse and less precise with input but for driving in the snow it will save you from overcorrecting. I prefer the 2016 it's less safe but way more fun
