Quick note, the tires that ship with the Grand Touring version of the 2014 Mazda 6 are not available for purchase yet. I found this out the hard way yesterday when I got a nail in one tire that can't be patched, and went to the dealership to see if I could buy a replacement. There's no date of availability either in their system which I found disturbing.

19's are standard on the Grand Touring trim.

Mine came with Dunlop's SP Sport 5000 tires (P225/45R19 92W). No shop around my neighborhood has them in stock, not even other brands with the same spec's. Guess I gotta ride around on a doughnut for a while, at the "dangerous" top speed of 55 MPH (88 KPH).

Wow. Tirerack doesn't even offer them either...

The more common 18" tires that Honda, Nissan, and Toyota use on some of their cars would have been a better "premium tire" choice.

I am considering 16" rim for my winter tires. Winter tires are required by law in my area from Dec 15 to Mar 15. Four seasons tires do not cut it. Most people put their winter tires from Nov 1st to mid April. And because potholes, thicker is better. I am considering either 225/60R16 or 215/65R16. But anyone have try to fit 16 inch rim over front brake assembly?

PS - I ordered my 6 2014 GT with tech pkg, a month ago to replace my 6 2003 which has 266000 km (165000 mi) . No word yet for when I will received. Maybe around April. Anyhow I have to get read for next winter.
