2010 Mazda 6 Trunk Release Works Sometimes?

I bought my 2010 Mazda 6 in February, I don't have the advanced keyless system. But for the last 3 months my trunk just won't open intermittently. When I push the button in the car or on my key fob. It doesn't sound like it even tries. I took it to the dealer and it happened to be working that day so they couldn't tell me anything except that it didn't make sense, since it worked sometimes and not others.

They checked for a valet button in the glove box which I guess older models have had. I have no button on our around my license plate. So other than releasing the back seat and climbing in to manually release it which is really difficult and impossible when you have luggage in your trunk.

Has this happened to anyone else?
