We have been tossing around building the intake for the V6 model 2009-up Mazda 6. One of the other owners here had put forth a proposal but we need to get an accurate gauge of how many people would buy one.

The estimated price for the intake would be $239.

Post away on comments or suggestions

We are going to run aluminum pipe up from the MAF housing to the throttle body. The other end we will see if we can get the filter lower in the engine bay or possible in the fender liner. We will probably go with a black powder coat on the pipe and 3 colors for the silicone and filter.

thanks sounds good D.

like will it be a long or a short intake?
and how many hp increase should i expect?
and will it turn the check engine sign on? stuff like that...
well they havent even made the prototype. so answering these questions would be kinda hard and all speculation. give them a chance to make the first couple and get the design down and tested on some cars. then those answers can be answered.

$239?!! the 2.5L intake is only $179 why such the huge difference? (( 09-10 Mazda 6 :: Intake / Exhaust - CorkSport Mazda Performance - 360-260-CORK )) I am deffinately interested but rumor has it Injen is thinking about it too. I'm probably going to get the first one out but @ $239 I will deffinately make sure Injen is or isn't going to make one.

wow really?

the 2.5L intake is an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT motor. lets see a reason for the price difference?

1. the V6 has more than a liter of displacment over the 2.5L and will take a different design

2. being more than a liter larger, im sure it will require larger diameter piping than the 2.5L especially considering the TB on the 3.7L is a 72mm TB

3. routing and hold downs will be totally different.

4. at the price they qouted it is competitively priced with other intakes on the market for similar sized V6's

also, complaining about competitive price before its made isnt really a good way to get a company interested in making a product. especially a product that is for a vehicle that will more than likely sell low units. just an FYI

Although very enlightening NY I'm pretty sure they had to do all of that stuff for the 2.5 also. They did make that one from scratch too. Which means they had to design it, rout it, and find where to place the hold downs. The only point that makes any sense is the larger diameter of pipe, but I don't think that would add $60 for more for the difference in aluminum. Despite your suggestions my question still holds water. If you read my original post I wasn't complaining, just curious.

Please enlighten me on what part of this post isn't complaining about the price corksport qouted?

The part where you say "$239!!" Or the part where you say "the 2.5L intake is only $179"

Or was it the part where you indirectly insinuated that you would basically buy the injen intake because of the price if they make.

When in the end...majority if not all injen intakes for V6 engines average about $250 brand new off the press.

Like I said..complaining about pricing doesn't make companies any more eager to make shit for a low selling unit car. So if you don't like the price keep it to yourself and don't screw everyone else who doesn't mind paying for quality products.

i know they didnt make anything yet, i just wanted to know their future plans for us.
and btw price isnt a problem for me, all that matters is a high quality product and a noticable power gain(6-8 hp's at least).

Sign this guy up for one! Thanks for finally pulling the trigger and asking us to get one to market. I'll take anything, but being in the tundra most of the time I'm happy with a short ram or cold air. Anything that beats stock. Thanks again!
