I was reading the Consumer Reports used vehicle issue, and noticed that the 2008 Mazda 6 got high marks for everything, except for two little black marks in the "Brakes" and "Suspension" blocks. All previous years seemed to be above average.
Was there some sort of change to the suspension/braking systems in that time? Or is this an issue across all of the 6s?
I have searched, but haven't found very much on this subject.

Thank you in advance.

probably a goof up. those are 2 places the 6 shines at. lol.

and for reference. all 6's have the same basic brake set ups pretty much. the 03-05's have smaller brakes though, then in 06-08 they actually made the brakes bigger for even better braking. so a 06-08 should brake much better then the older 03-05 cars. but even the older 03-05 brakes are more then up to the task.

That was my understanding as well, and I have had no problem with my 2008. The only problem I had with the car at all, was an airbag module that was fixed under warranty. I have about 45K on it now.

Consumer Reports tests and keeps records on vehicles as if they are washing machines. They once said unfavorably of the Dodge Omni, "Releasing the steering wheel may cause loss of control." They also recently criticized the Lexus GX, a high-riding SUV, because you could defeat the stability control by swerving back and forth in the most gorilla way possible. Toyota is supposed to protect idiots from the laws of physics?

I would want to see the 2008 data points, sampling size, opinion reasoning, etc., before taking CR's word with anything but a grain of salt. They're a loathesome magazine when it comes to vehicle subjectives and reviews.
