My 2004 Mazda 6 has a slot for a cassette player. Anyone have any idea how to remove the piece of plastic that is covering this slot?

It is probably molded in with the rest of the dash.
You might have to pull everything out and then cut that cover piece off.

I'm not sure, because I ACTUALLY have a cassett player installed....lol

You need to remove the entire center console and then pop out the piece of plastic from behind. I had to press pretty hard but it eventually came out.

im assuming there's no actual tape deck behind there? wouldnt you have to swap the internal over from one that did have a tape deck? and at that point, why not just swap the entire deck head unit over.

I believe the tape deck was a D.I. option and not part of the original sound system. If you like to pay money, you can probably buy one from Mazda. Or just replace the whole thing.
