ahaha....this afternoon, driving to lunch, I noticed a very annoying, loud, high pitched "whistling" noise coming from the fan. When I cut the temp below 65-66, though, it disappeared. Keeping it at that temp is not really an option right now as it's barely above freezing.

Took it in this afternoon and the service tech said that the air vents/channels/whatever may be stuck or malfunctioning...they're going to remove the glove box tomorrow and try to fix it, but if they can't, off comes the dash...

Damn! 2nd day and already in the shop! And to add insult to injury, my "loaner car" is a Hyundai!

Fuck it. I love the car and hope this is a one-time fluke.

That was a problem that affected the earlier Mazda6s as well. Don't think I've ever seen an actual explanation as to the cause. Probably something not tightened properly or something left where it shouldn't have been during installation.

But seriously that sucks. Hopefully it was a case of something coming loose and nothing serious.
