Mazda 6 and Ford Fusion 2.3L Engine Swap | Happy Wrenching

Going through the process to replace my friend's 2.3L and will provide additional images and information as I go. most of the leg work has been done for me, but making this easier to find and sticky so others can find it when they have to address the same issue.

ok,my 2004 mazda6i has a rod bearing going out.i want to put a 06 up ford fusion engine in it.so far i have heard i need to change the ignition system, intake cam or the timming cog, crank pulley, crank position sensor, camshaft sensor, oil pan timing cover, valve cover. anything else? After changing the cam do i need to adjust the valves?
Mazdaman, I will have an early version Mazda engine for you, ready to drop in your car, without any modifications. It has low miles and will have a fresh cylinder head. PM me if you're interested. Otherwise, it's going on Ebay to the highest bidder (it should bring over $1,000 there).
OK,It is done and running great.I put a 08 fusion engine in with 16k miles.I changed everything listed on my last post plus the fuel rail and injectors.I did not change the intake manifold because they were the same.I did use the mazda throttle body.
Great job. I'm glad you got it done. :):) Overall, this swap really is not as hard as it would initially seem.
