Have a 2007 mazda diesel 2.0 mazda 6 that I drive to work and clock up around 150 kilometers per day, the terrain I climb has a lot of gradients and I go through the gears to maintain fuel efficiency . The car exhibits no issues whatsoever.

When I purchased the car I had a flashing dpf light on the way home car refuses to accelerate, turn car off and back on and rectifies itself but check engine light stays solid. Perform dpf Regen and reset all the timers oil change when I get home, no issues after that.

Fast forward to yesterday driving on a flat road for around 80 kilometers in 6th and revs sit just under 2000, car flat spots and doesn't accelerate. I pull over take a look under bonnet and everything looks fine, turn car off and back on again and didn't have another issue completing rest of journey there and then the return journey home.

Has anyone had the car flat spot /lose power like that on straight roads ?

I did alternate between 6th and 5th on way home as I can't help but think the engine speed /load in 6th triggers something in ecu that causes the power loss.

Well that's just a theory I have, I actually have absolutely no idea why it's doing it and am hoping someone else has experienced a similar issue and can steer me in right direction what it could be.

One more thing the idle was erratic however when I pushed clutch in it would stabilise, once again turned key off back on then no issues
I think my best bet is to have the car checked for codes.

It happened to me yesterday, not related to your experience, the car won't turn ON the A/C. The signal lights were flickering faster than normal. After running for about half an hour, while enduring the humid weather and a few complaints from my wife as she was sweating, I stopped the car upon arriving on our destination.

I was a bit surprised that the lights weren't functioning. No signal lights and no headlights were operative except for the DRL. I finally turned OFF the engine.

I don't know what to make of it but after half a minute, I started the car and as if nothing happened that the car is now running normally.

I have been putting car back in 5th gear every once in awhile and hasn't been an issue again. What does a DPF Regen feel like when you're driving along?
Sorry, I have no idea. An acquaintance of mine also wondered, why my car isn't regenerating. It is perhaps because of my weekly highway driving. I run 160 km one way, then spend about 20-50 km within the vicinity of my workplace and then return home for another 160 km on weekends.
