  1. Does the push button start just make it hard to jump start these cars?

    Electrical / HVAC
93,500K miles right now. I'm definitely do for a battery regardless and I will replace it if it doesn't test well. I'm just wondering if these cars take well to a jump normally.
  2. Does the push button start just make it hard to jump start these cars?

    Electrical / HVAC
Hi everyone, I have a 15 Mazda6 Touring and I'm starting to have more frequent battery issues and I'm thinking it's time to replace it. Last night I figure I had left my dome light on for no more than 1.5 hrs and I figured I was fine. Left it alone and I couldn't start it this morning. I got...
  3. Advice on water pump removal? Can't get water pump free from inlet pipe

    2.5L I-4
Yeah, it was pretty much overkill on my part, but at 93K I felt I was high enough in mileage to justify it. I would agree that it wasn't 100% necessary at this stage (especially since it's an external waterpump as you pointed out), but it was a "While I'm in here" repair.
  4. Advice on water pump removal? Can't get water pump free from inlet pipe

    2.5L I-4
No failure for the water pump. Simply preventative since I have 93,000 miles on the car and I was replacing the serpentine and water pump belt. For the sake of future searches I will add some detail to what it takes to do it. I found a great shop manual resource here: Drive Belt...
  5. Advice on water pump removal? Can't get water pump free from inlet pipe

    2.5L I-4
FYI I've been following these service manual instructions: Water Pump Removal
  6. Advice on water pump removal? Can't get water pump free from inlet pipe

    2.5L I-4
Hi everyone, I'm replacing the serpentine and water pump belts and replacing the water pump and doing a fluid flush on my 2015. We have the belts off and all of the bolts off of the pump but we cannot get the water pump free from the inlet pipe. I can rotate it about a quarter turn clockwise...
  7. Anyone get Mazda to replace the rear calipers again after initial recall?

    Suspension / Brakes
It's still in the dealerships hands and already being worked on so I can't inspect it anymore at this point. With the handle in the down position I could not get the lever itself to move at all when I tried to move it with my hand, I didn't think to check the tightness of the cables then, but...
  8. Anyone get Mazda to replace the rear calipers again after initial recall?

    Suspension / Brakes
Yeah it sounds ridiculous to me too. I haven't taken it apart on this car, but I've never really seen a "complex" mechanism for an E-brake handle. It did occasionally fail to engage and "let loose" and drop moments after I set it at times, but this was maybe a couple times in a month or more...
  9. Anyone get Mazda to replace the rear calipers again after initial recall?

    Suspension / Brakes
Ugh, no luck in the end here. They dismantled the rear brakes and are claiming the calipers are good and that the E-brake handle itself is broken. So I'm getting hosed for $600 to get that and the rear pads and rotors done now. I'd take the damn thing home and do the rear rotors and pads...
  10. Anyone get Mazda to replace the rear calipers again after initial recall?

    Suspension / Brakes
Thanks maz615. Good to know they have covered it. So since posting I didn't have a chance to pull the rear pads yet and inspect them but I noticed the brakes were sounding better actually after a few days. Fast forward to today when my parking brake handle failed once again and I can't get it...
  11. Anyone get Mazda to replace the rear calipers again after initial recall?

    Suspension / Brakes
I see what you are saying in regards to regular maintenance and I do plan on inspecting them and at that point and re-lubing the pins. I'm asking about repeat recall warranty repairs because this is a known issue with these cars. If it wasn't for that I'd simply replace the pads and rotors...
  12. Anyone get Mazda to replace the rear calipers again after initial recall?

    Suspension / Brakes
Hi everyone, I replaced rotors and pads on all 4 corners at 58,000 Miles and I had the rear caliper recall done shortly after. They replaced both rear calipers at that time. Now I'm approaching 92,000 Miles and I'm hearing a pulsating drag and squeal in my rear brakes. Either my rotors are...
  13. Releasing Lien if you financed through Mazda Credit?

    Lounge
Hi Everyone, As much as I like my 15 Mazda6 I'm currently considering the possibility of selling it in the next few months because it's looking like I'm going to have to take a new job with a pretty steep pay cut. I need to reduce my expenses and my car loan is a bit high for my likely income...
  14. Mazda releases brake caliper recall

    Suspension / Brakes
I still haven't gotten a second notice but I complained enough to get my recall initiated. The Service manager said if they consider it more of an "emergency" then they will fast track the parts. In my case I told them that I just replaced pads and rotors on all 4 wheels (was at 58K miles) and...
  15. 14-15 Hand Brake cable adjustment or replacement?

    Suspension / Brakes
Hi everyone, My '15 Touring with MTX is having issues with the hand parking brake lever. I would say within the last 6 months I'd have days where I'd set the parking brake and then here a "clunk" afterward once every few weeks or months but it was still engaging. Now when I release it the...
  16. Anyone else have issues with remote entry button responsiveness on a 14 or 15?

    Electrical / HVAC
Seems like the batteries fixed the issue. It's been a week and I haven't had any problems with proximity door handles or the push button start being responsive.
  17. Anyone else have issues with remote entry button responsiveness on a 14 or 15?

    Electrical / HVAC
Hi everyone, So I've noticed that I've had occasional issues with my car recognizing my key for the remote entry and remote start. Sometimes I would get into the car (after using the remote entry button on the door handle just fine) and it would give me warning lights on the dash. I would...
  18. E Parking Brake Problem

    Suspension / Brakes
The auto disengage feature sounds nice but this is exactly why I don't trust E Parking Brakes. As a manual trans owner I use mine all the time and there's something reassuring about the satisfying "clunk" of the lever engaging when you pull it to set it.
  19. Aftermarket shocks are here... The wait is over

    Suspension / Brakes
For those of you who are okay with waiting awhile on upgrading your suspension like I am it's worth mentioning that Koni usually has a big Sale every Spring for 20% off of their whole product line. Personally I will probably wait until next spring to do my suspension.
  20. DIY: Head Unit Swap: 2014 Mazda 6 Grand Touring

    Electrical / HVAC
So it will take 2-3 minutes to buffer while it reads EVERYTHING on the stick, but it will still start playing the previous track right away anyway? That I can deal with if that's the case.
